Cannabis must be heated to over 250 degrees F to be able to be converted to be absorbed by the body. Smoking it or vaping it will do so. Look up articles on 'Decarboxylation' of marijuana. That is why you don't get the full effect from just eating pot. There is a bunch of chemistry behind it that's too hard to be described by me.
Also, cooking it in any number of things will also do so, things like brownies, cookies and such are all very popular. But, as noted above, add butter. The THC is fat soluble and gets absorbed much better with some kind of fat in what ever you're cooking it in. That's why Canna Butter is so popular. You just take your weed, heat up some butter, margarine or olive oil and put the pot in it for a while. The THC dissolves into the butter and you put the butter where ever you like, such as toast, cookies, brownies or anywhere that you'd use the butter or oil - other than frying with it.
I don't know if just microwaving it with rice would keep the proper chemical components active or destroy them or change the structure to something that can be absorbed by the body.
You'll have to let us know how the microwave turned out.
