New US Poll on Legalization to be given to Obama

I was just given a number to call by a fellow smoker saying it was a poll for legalization. I was a little skeptical but after doing a bit of research on the matter, found out it was a legit poll to be given to Obama once it hits the one million mark.

So let me be the first to say that this all has been much more confusing than I would have ever expected.

To rehash for everyone, the other day I was contacted by a fellow marijuana supporter telling me to call 973-409-3274 to “help legalize marijuana

Hopefully they print it on some three ply paper so obama can do something usefull with it .......

while this is most likely true, my thoughts are still it's better to try and fail than not try at all.

Yes its better to try BUT theres no point in trying things that have no chance of sucess like that .

The point i made about me voting 1000000 times was ment to say that anyone could do it so the petition wont be taken seriously . Serious petitions have to have the names and adresses of the people who sign them on them , and those people and adresses must realy exist .

Again , read all of the legalisation section , all of the threads and then make some sugestions and talk about what you read and write there . It is posible to do usefull things and to change things if we only do effective things that have a chance of sucess .

One could try calling the number two times with the same phone number and see what happens. If a computer voice answers 'you already voted', it could be a good petition. Remember the "President Obama, will you consider legalizing Marijuana..." question did make the headlines worldwide, encouraging many news stations to invite experts to further discuss the issue. And although that poll was organized by the White House itself rather than some pro-legalization camp, the question was brought all the way to the top of the list because of the legalization groups (NORML, LEAP, Jack Herer etc.) networking through their mailing lists, social networking sites etc. Sometimes voting can be useful, though I agree many times it's just a waste of time.

nope, i called twice and it let me vote. unless they screen the received calls and remove any doubles, the poll is indeed useless.

and as far as legalization, I've sadly come to expect nothing but bad things from my country. Racism, intolerance, illogical thought processes and most of all, greed. This being said I think it will be another decade at least until total legalization is met, if ever.

These are the forces which are the very fabric upon which modern industry was built on.

There is plenty of truth out there, and I think Jack Herer is spot on when he points to big industry (paper) being the shadow-nemesis of cannabis in 1937, and ultimately the reason for its official rejection as an American staple product.

Anyone with an ounce of sinse, um..(':smoke:'). sense, knows cannabis/hemp is a multi-use plant which is truly a wonder.....the fact that 'they' can't control the production of it is the basis of most of their distaste, they can't build a monopoly on it, so they see it as worthless.
