mushroom harvest

hi there
azarius says in the site that "To be sure of this( mushrooms ready to harvest) you can check if the top of the shrooms have opened horizontally". but i´ve read in many sites that the mushroom should be pick«cked just before opening to preserv potency. it sems that they loose potency when they drop the spores.
can you clarify this for me?

I don't think they lose potency, but if you wish to get spore prints, then you should pick them just before the caps open. If you don't want spores, then I'd wait for them to open up. There was no potency loss when i let them open up.
