How would you even use dried leaves?
There's a weird little market down the street from me that caters to Somalians, Yemens and Ethiopians, that sells khat leaves wrapped up in bananna leaves to keep them moist and fresh. They told me that khat starts to lose its potency after 48 hours, so they only order it on Thursdays so they can have it fresh for the weekend when everyone comes in to buy it. He said all of his Somalian friends come in to buy it on Fridays when they get their pay-checks.
I've only tried the stuff once and found it to be even more bitter than chewing a kratom quid ( if that's even possible ). I couldn't keep it in my mouth long enough to feel any effects other than upset bowels. Honestly, it fucked my gut up. Like when you drink two pots of coffee
