Just a couple days ago I put my Hawaiian cakes in my terrarium. Yesterday when I looked at them one of the cakes was growin' these tiny grey bumps on the top of the cake, today they are grey spikes. Could these be the mushrooms formin'?? If they are, then this sounds like an idiotic question. But I thought that the mushrooms grew on the side of the cake first, also there are like 30 of those spikes..and I don't expect to get that many mushies from a cake. Any help would be appreciated..thank you.

High,

Normally after birthing your cake likes to colonise the substrate some more. But all mycelium is still white.

When mist hits your cakes, from a plantspray the cake can injure a little and show some color change.

Mostly pins start at the bottom, from the new grown mycelium.

Well if it become knots-pins-fruits you will notice soon enough.

Both cakes grew big, puffy white mycelium all on the sides. The tops aren't really covered, 'cept with those grey spikes on the one. I don't mist my plants, but one of them was discolored a little white when it was in the jar..i had to keep it in the jar a little longer, 'cause the other one wasn't ready. I'll just wait until tomorrow to see what they look like..i'll give you the update when i do.
