Growing own Ephedra to make ephedrine.. possible/doable?

Does'nt nescesarily have to be to make pure ephedrine, would be nice though.
Is it doable to grow ephedra to get a reasonable harvest for private use?
Wich Ephedra would you have to grow to get the most out of it?
Any extraction methods or tips?

both ephedra navadensis and ephedra sinica are fairly easy to grow. they like well drained soil and regular watering. you can buy seeds on-line or find established plants in garden centers( sometimes known as mormon tea)

I do believe that getting the pure Ephedrine out is quite the hassle.

just make tea from the plant. pure ephedrine is cheap to buy if thats what you want
