hi
my second flush is ready but i discovered some blueish green spots on the cake before harvesting it. the rest looks normal except for a blueish green "touch" at the left side. i don't know if this is a contamination or if this is normal. guess it's the tiny little shrooms i couldn't pick last time without "breaking" the brick. and since aspargillus isn't very healthy i don't wanna take any risks. shall i throw this away or can i keep it? i added a photo of that spot, hope somebody can help me.
thanks a lot
p.s. sorry for my bad english
edit: adding the foto didn't work

It most likely is contaminated..i couldn't see the photo, so i couldn't tell you for sure. Blue usually isn't bad, but green is on the other hand.

You can alsop try to cut of the bad part of the cake. So the infection won't spread. Good luck!

if you have a doubt on the blue or green color, wait a day or two to be sure. If you have no doubt it is green, cut the infected part and spred normal salt on where you cutted, this will for effect to avoid the contam to spred. In my experience, if you just cut it out without salt, it keeps coming back.

thanks to you guys! the spots are actually green, but they didn't spread over the cake. the shrooms were ready to harvest anyway but they look normal, so no green spots on it. but i doubt that i'll keep them.

kind regards

It's very commen to get those green or blue spots. Actually blue is not bad. Dark green is contamination. 99% of the time your shrooms are fine. An easy way to check if they are contaminated is to take one of your stalks and slice it open with a razor. If the inside is rotten (Brown and dirty looking) then your shrooms are bad. If you slice it open and it looks fine (White and fleshy looking) then you are fine.

To cut the contmination out you will need a scaple or a razor shap knife. Soak the knife in alchol for a few hours then shake it dry. At this point you can quickly cut out the contamination. Make sure you go deep enough to get the entire spread.

Just keep in mind 2 major things
1) Make sure your hands are very clean (soap and water then use a hand sanitzor).
2) Do your best not to directly touch the cake.

I know it's hard to cut out a spot and not touch the cake but do your best.

If all goes well then you will get a contamination free flush on your next round!
