Brown popcorn substrate??

Hello..somethin' real weird happened to my shroomie project.

Someone on this forum a couple years back taught me about the technique where you can use popcorn kernels as substrate to innoculate the spores.

Well anyway, I did this..and today is day five and I checked on them and there was a whole bunch of brown all over them, no white at all.

Does anyone know what this brown could be?? It actually kind of looks like soil. I'll post a picture in a few days if no one knows what I'm talkin' about.

I checked them out again today, I was wrong about the color..it's not even close to brown, it's black.

The good news is that I now see mycellium growin' ontop of this black stuff (looks like soil??)..soooo, is this natural??

Anyone??
