Hello,

This morning I smoked some "regular" strength salvia, and near the end of the experience, the visuals kind of faded to black. Then I opened my eyes, (or at least I thought I did), and it was still black. I didn't panic, but I was aware of who I was and my surroundings and that I'd smoked Salvia, so it was very scary to think that maybe I'd gone blind. I told myself to let the song I was listening to, finish, and after about 20 seconds, I opened my eyes again, and I was back in my room.

I'm pretty sure this was all "just" in my mind, but I guess I have my doubts and that worries me.

This is the second time this has happened in the last week or two, and I was just wondering if anyone's ever had anything like this happen to them. thanks.

I found a few sites talking about blindness and smoking, but I don't know if it applies to all smoke, or just cigarettes.

Taken from "ColledgeAndUniversity.net"

1. Smoking can make you blind.
According to studies in the Journal of the American Medical Association, smokers and ex-smokers are two to three times more likely to develop macular degeneration, which is an irreversible form of blindness. Countless other studies confirm that smoking affects eyesight. Researchers say that smoking restricts blood flow to the eyes and can cause not only macular degeneration, but also cataracts (clouding of the lenses).

I don't know if it's an instant thing, or if you would start getting symptoms before permanent blindness. The same thing happened to me on weed once, I couldn't see for like 5 seconds after each hit. It's never happened again though, hmm...

I know I'm replying to this ages later.. but since macular degeneration runs in my family, I can tell you that it isn't instant. It is a slow process lasting anywhere from months to years to decades. It also isn't a complete blackout, but you lose parts of your sight, starting with the center and working its way outward. And once your vision is gone, it doesn't come back. I fortunately don't seem to have it (yet)..

Sounds like he fainted.. Like inhaling way too much weed? I did that once, my vision just faded to black over like a period of a minute, and it is scary as hell especially if you don't know what is going on. (Albeit, completely different herb :? )

I've heard many people talk about that very same thing you described. I'm pretty sure that happens sometimes during a salvia experience.

When I smoke salvia I don't even know how to use my eye or what eyes even are :p

I am the type of person that forgets he's on drugs or who he is though. You could have "told" your brain to open your eyes and it thought it did. I find salvia to mess with brain signals.

(xcuse my bad english)
perhaps you were not blind but in a dark world ?
