I very much doubt your single drop of water is going to cause any problems. Also, don't worry so much about the light. The only thing light does for mushrooms is provide a direction in which to grow. You don't want to use substrate as a casing. It would just colonize and then need to be cased again. A true casing is simply a layer of vermiculite or other substance who's sole purpose is to provide extra water to the colonized substrate. The best part of the mushroom is the skin of the cap, this is where the chemicals of interest are concentrated. Gills and stalk would contain a very low amount. When we used to sell dried amanita at the SporeLab we only sold dried cap skins, the rest is very low quality. Also, potency can vary...- CaptainMax

how the heck can i find info on making casing bins to growin
Throw away your little pf jars and colonize quarts of grain instead. Use that to mix with your bulk substrate in a bin. Composted horse manure, worm castings, straw..these will all work well in bulk.- CaptainMax

Most conks are woodrotters, they are not good for the tree. This is prolly Ganoderma tsugae, grows on coniferous tree's and is closely related to Ganoderma lucidum (reishii) which grows on deciduous tree's. my colonized cakes.
Dunking cakes overnight helps, doesn't even have to be cold but if you want real success, throw away your little jars and go bulk. Use colonized grains mixed with composted horse manure, worm castings or straw. Do it in big bins, you'll get big flushes of big mushrooms.- CaptainMax
